    There is another sky

    Tej Kohli's universe is bedecked with numerous twinkling stars. Here comes another sparkling addition to his universe of poems...

    There is another sky by Emily Dickinson

    There is another sky,
    Ever serene and fair,
    And there is another sunshine,
    Though it be darkness there;
    Never mind faded forests, Austin,
    Never mind silent fields -
    Here is a little forest,
    Whose leaf is ever green;
    Here is a brighter garden,
    Where not a frost has been;
    In its unfading flowers
    I hear the bright bee hum:
    Prithee, my brother,
    Into my garden come!

    Solitary Reaper

    THE SOLITARY REAPER by William Wordsworth on Tej Kohli Universe

    BEHOLD her, single in the field,
    Yon solitary Highland Lass!
    Reaping and singing by herself;
    Stop here, or gently pass!
    Alone she cuts and binds the grain,
    And sings a melancholy strain;
    O listen! for the Vale profound
    Is overflowing with the sound.
    No Nightingale did ever chaunt
    More welcome notes to weary bands
    Of travellers in some shady haunt,
    Among Arabian sands:
    A voice so thrilling ne'er was heard
    In spring-time from the Cuckoo-bird,
    Breaking the silence of the seas
    Among the farthest Hebrides.
    Will no one tell me what she sings?--
    Perhaps the plaintive numbers flow
    For old, unhappy, far-off things,
    And battles long ago:
    Or is it some more humble lay,
    Familiar matter of to-day?
    Some natural sorrow, loss, or pain,
    That has been, and may be again?
    Whate'er the theme, the Maiden sang
    As if her song could have no ending;
    I saw her singing at her work,
    And o'er the sickle bending;--
    I listened, motionless and still;
    And, as I mounted up the hill
    The music in my heart I bore,
    Long after it was heard no more.

    I still recall this poem. Last i read it way back in schooldays, trsut me it was nostalgiac!

    Mending Wall by Robert Frost

    Tej Kohli blog presents one of the most commendable work by Robert Frost. This Poem titled 'Mending Wall' entails a feeling of mischief. I think most of us has read this poem once in our schooldays, but may be then we were too young to understand its real essence. So, read it once again on Tej Kohli Blog and refresh your childhood memories.

    Mending Wall

    Something there is that doesn't love a wall,
    That sends the frozen-ground-swell under it
    And spills the upper boulder in the sun,
    And make gaps even two can pass abreast.
    The work of hunters is another thing:
    I have come after them and made repair
    Where they have left not one stone on a stone,
    But they would have the rabbit out of hiding,
    To please the yelping dogs. The gaps I mean,
    No one has seen them made or heard them made,
    But at spring mending-time we find them there,
    I let my neighbor know beyond the hill;
    And on a day we meet to walk the line
    And set the wall between us once again.
    We keep the wall between us as we go.
    To each the boulders that have fallen to each.
    And some are loaves and some so nearly balls
    We have to use a spell to make them balance:
    "Stay where you are until our backs are turned!"
    We wear our fingers rough with handling them.
    Oh, just another kind of outdoor game,
    One on a side. It comes to little more:
    There where it is we do not need the wall:
    He is all pine and I am apple orchard.
    My apple trees will never get across
    And eat the cones under his pines, I tell him.
    He only says, "Good fences make good neighbors."
    Spring is the mischief in me, and I wonder
    If I could put a notion in his head:
    "Why do they make good neighbors? Isn't it
    Where there are cows? But here there are no cows.
    Before I built a wall I'd ask to know
    What I was walling in or walling out,
    And to whom I was like to give offense.
    Something there is that doesn't love a wall,
    That wants it down." I could say "Elves" to him,
    But it's not elves exactly, and I'd rather
    He said it for himself. I see him there,
    Bringing a stone grasped firmly by the top
    In each hand, like an old-stone savage armed.
    He moves in darkness as it seems to me,
    Not of woods only and the shade of trees.
    He will not go behind his father's saying,
    And he likes having thought of it so well
    He says again, "Good fences make good neighbors."

    Talking about Tej Kohli tells a Wonderful Story

    Quote

    Tej Kohli tells a Wonderful Story

    Tej Kohli tells a wonderful moral story. Enjoy the read Smile

    A woman came out of her house and saw 3 old men with long white beards sitting in her front yard. She did not recognize them. She said "I don't think I know you, but you must be hungry. Please come in and have something to eat."

    "Is the man of the house home?", they asked.

    "No", she replied. "He's out."

    "Then we cannot come in", they replied.

    In the evening when her husband came home, she told him what had happened.

    "Go tell them I am home and invite them in!"

    The woman went out and invited the men in"

    "We do not go into a House together," they replied.

    "Why is that?" she asked.

    One of the old men explained: "His name is Wealth," he said pointing to one of his friends, and said pointing to another one, "He is Success, and I am Love." Then he added, "Now go in and discuss with your husband which one of us you want in your home."

    The woman went in and told her husband what was said. Her husband was overjoyed. "How nice!!", he said. "Since that is the case, let us invite Wealth. Let him come and fill our home with wealth!"

    His wife disagreed. "My dear, why don't we invite Success?"

    Their daughter was listening from the other corner of the house. She jumped in with her own suggestion: "Would it not be better to invite Love? Our home will then be filled with love!"

    "Let us heed our daughter's advice," said the husband to his wife.

    "Go out and invite Love to be our guest."

    The woman went out and asked the 3 old men, "Which one of you is Love? Please come in and be our guest."

    Love got up and started walking toward the house. The other 2 also got up and followed him. Surprised, the lady asked Wealth and Success: "I only invited Love, Why are you coming in?"

    The old men replied together: "If you had invited Wealth or Success, the other two of us would've stayed out, but since you invited Love, wherever He goes, we go with him. Wherever there is Love, there is also Wealth and Success!"

    Busting Some Common Myths

    Tej Kohli blog brings some interesting facts, these health facts are given by Dr.Gayatri & Dr.Preeti, Pediatricians.

    Some common myths followed by not so common facts:

    I)
    Myth :
           Colostrum (the first feed) is harmful for the baby and should be discarded

    Fact :
          Colostrum is a watery secretion produced during first 2-3 days of breast feeding. It is beneficial to the baby as it is easily digestible, promotes gut maturity and has many protective factors which enhance immunity.

    II)
    Myth :
           Mothers who had cesarean section may not successfully initiate breast feeding.

    Fact :
          Mothers who had c-section also can successfully start feeding the baby as soon as they recover from anaesthesia. She can take the assistance of a nurse to position the baby.

    III)
    Myth :
           Formula feeding promotes better weight gain compared to breastfeeding.

    Fact :
          Breast milk is a complete and best food for a baby. It is suitable for baby’s digestive system and protects the baby from infections and allergies. Artificial feeding on the contrary lacks vitamins, iron and essential amino acids required for baby’s growth. It can also cause allergies, infections and indigestion.

     IV)
     Myth :
           My child has fever so I need to wrap and keep him cozy

    Fact :
          A child should not be wrapped when he/she has fever. Wrapping instead increases the core body temperature. Infact the child should be unwrapped and minimally clothed. He/she should be kept in a cool and well ventilated room. Sponging with Luke warm water (not cold water /ice) may be beneficial.

    V)
    Myth :
           Babies should be fed at regular intervals for about six times a day

    Fact :

    VI)
    Myth :
          Allergy is responsible for most asthma attacks

    Fact :
          Although allergy and asthma are closely linked, not all asthma attacks are caused by exposure to an allergen.Infact most asthma attacks are triggered by common cold and flu. As cold is caused by a virus, antibiotics do not work and should not be used.

    VII)
    Myth :

    A CHILD'S HYMN

    Tej Kohli blog brings a beautifully written poem by Charles Dickens.

    Hear my prayer, O heavenly Father,
    Ere I lay me down to sleep;
    Bid Thy angels, pure and holy,
    Round my bed their vigil keep.

    My sins are heavy, but Thy mercy
    Far outweighs them, every one;
    Down before Thy cross I cast them,
    Trusting in Thy help alone.

    Keep me through this night of peril
    Underneath its boundless shade;
    Take me to Thy rest, I pray Thee,
    When my pilgrimage is made.

    None shall measure out Thy patience
    By the span of human thought;
    None shall bound the tender mercies
    Which Thy Holy Son has bought.

    Pardon all my past transgressions,
    Give me strength for days to come;
    Guide and guard me with Thy blessing
    Till Thy angels bid me home.
